Did anybody else feel miserable on New Year’s Eve watching everybody best bits of the year? As I sat watching girls recap there amazing holidays, how they landed their dream job or finally saved up enough money to buy their first home, I sat thinking about how my year compared to theirs – I felt defeated. I told myself I had achieved nothing compared to these people but that just wasn’t the case. Once I finally came out of my mood I realised that my year hadn’t actually been that awful I’d just forgotten about all the great stuff I had done. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others, we do it all the time, but for the majority of us our years are never going to be filled with 20 lavish holidays (I mean, I wish mine was) because who has the money for that? So as we start 2019 I’m feeling inspired and motivated I thought it would be a great idea to write down some of things I’d like to achieve this year! So instead of writing them in a notebook I’m going to write them here instead, just like how I did last year. My goals for 2019 are:
Save money – and then spend it
I graduated from University last summer and along with my degree I finished with a hefty overdraft to pay off. Luckily I’ve landed myself a reasonable payed job and have moved back home so 2019 will be the year that this gets paid off!! Once that is gone I’m able to save save save. My dad laughed after I told him this – saving money definitely isn’t my strong point but new year new me ay? But the truth, this year I have to. Not only do I want to move out towards the end of next year but my best friend is getting married in America during summer and that is something that I cannot miss. Wish me luck…
Read my emails
Every morning I open my phone to see the little red notification telling me I have over 6000 unread emails. I know I hate myself too. This may be my most ambitious goal, but I want that notification gone and it may take me the whole year to do it.
Do more with my free time
Netflix is my best friend. My favourite thing to do is binge watch a TV series and 2019 will not be the year I stop this. However, this year I’d like to do more than watch Netflix in my free time – I want to read more, blog more and maybe even start doing yoga? When I first started working 9-5 I felt down about the lack of free time I had, but realistically this isn’t true, upon reflection think it’s what I was doing in my free time that influenced that feeling. So if you have any book recommendations I would love to hear them!
Develop all things me
Boring but maybe the most important. Being a millennial I’m impatient, I want everything now. But this isn’t how life works, we have to keep working hard and eventually things will happen. 2019 will be the year of both personal and professional development – I feel like I’m just starting my adult life and I’m excited to see what’s to come but I’m going to take it all one step at a time.
I don’t want to set myself any unachievable goals for 2019 because I really have no idea what this year has installed for me but I’m feeling positive. Looking back 2018 could have been worse but I want this year to be better and I have the power to do this! What are you goals for 2019 I would love to hear them?!
I’ve also migrated my blog to WordPress and have a new theme so I hope you like the new look, let me know what you think! I feel very professional.
